Search is changing. A growing number of patients no longer type a keyword and scan ten blue links. They ask ChatGPT, Gemini, or Google’s AI overview a full question, “Who is a good bariatric surgeon in Dubai?”, and act on the short answer they get back. If your practice is not part of that answer, you are invisible to a fast-growing slice of patients, no matter how well you rank on the old results page.

This is generative engine optimization, and the clinics that adapt early will own it. Here is how AI assistants decide who to name.

They trust sources they can verify

AI models do not invent recommendations from nothing. They pull from content they can read, cross-check, and trust. To be that source:

  • State clearly who you are, what you treat, and where, in plain language
  • Publish your credentials, DHA licence, and specialties where both people and machines can find them
  • Keep your details consistent across your site, directories, and profiles

They favour clear, structured answers

AI assistants prefer content that directly answers a question. Pages that open with a plain, useful answer, then explain, are far easier for a model to quote than a wall of marketing copy.

  • Write in a question-and-answer shape where it fits
  • Use headings that match how patients actually ask
  • Add structured data so machines understand your services, location, and reviews

They notice what others say about you

Being mentioned on trusted third-party sites, review platforms, and reputable directories tells an AI model that real people and real sources back you up. A single self-published claim carries far less weight than the same fact echoed across the web.

They reward genuine expertise

Thin, generic content does not get cited. Detailed, accurate answers written by, or clearly attributed to, a qualified doctor do. This is where healthcare has an advantage: your real expertise is exactly what these systems are trying to surface.

Start before your competitors do

AI search is still new enough that most Dubai clinics have done nothing about it. That is the opportunity. The practices that make themselves easy for AI to understand and trust now will be the default answer patients hear for years.
